We woke up to some weird music at 8:00 am. The reason for the later wake up and the music, is because someone paid for this at the auction yesterday.
We also have someone in our group who bid on controlling the ship for 15 minutes. He will be on the bridge of the ship at 4:00 to begin his opportunity of driving the ship. This could be quite neat to see.
We did watch our group member Tom steer the ship. In fact the ship's Captain probably had his bottle of vodka handy. Tom did have the opportunity to turn the ship in a very different direction than what it had previously been aimed. When it began to turn the phone up in the bridge did ring and one of the staff did make an announcement that the person who purchased this privilege from the auction was trying to turn the ship around to head to Antactica once again.
Tom had been in the Navy and had done some steering maybe 58 years ago.
There have been various lectures today again to keep us busy while we are on the rocky seas. We had another lecture on on the tectonic plates that form this area of the world.
Not a very clear photo but an Albatross flying around the ship. This seabird flies thousands of miles a year and is not on land much. When they are on land it is for the purpose of breeding and taking care of the one chick and then off again.
We have an opportunity to celebrate at the Captains Farewell Party this evening and then get our chance to pack our suitcases for disembarking in Ishuaia once again.
