2014 in Antarctica

Wed. Jan. 1, 2014

We were delayed in getting to our intended destination due to the fact a crew member needed medical attention. Our ship headed over to King George Island and met another ship that was waiting for a plane to land. Then he would be transported to a hospital which would be some distance away.

This morning we received a message from the staff that humpback whales were near the ship. We could see them from our window as well. Walt got some good photos too.

That was pretty impressive.

We then prepared for our zodiac cruise. We need to wear lots of layers to stay warm.

No wonder we can't walk when we have all our stuff on. We look like the little brother in The Christmas Story.

Our zodiac driver giving us some safety instructions before we head on out.

This large seal found a nice top of a huge hill to just chill.

This Kelp Gull seems rather please to show off his feet.

Large iceberg.
