HAWAII AND LA-JAN. 26-FEB. 2. 2016

This blog is going to be a little glimpse of our week.  We spent a few days in LA visiting Brian and got him some new tires.  I know, really exciting but necessary. We even ran along the beach in Santa Monica.  That is always really pretty. The majority of the time was in Hawaii on the island of Kauai.

First I will start off with some of the FOOD AND DRINK ITEMS.

McDonald's breakfast, Porky's BBQ Food Truck, Puka Dog and a coconut turnover.  All very healthy
foods to enjoy while on vacation.
Can't forget  beer and good rum.

SITES OF INTEREST:

Waimea Canyon and one of the roads leading up to it.

Tunnel of trees drive.

What is Hawaii without blue water and huge waves.

Speaking of huge waves, this one behind Walt looks a bit menacing.  This one is downright frothy.

Just a nice relaxing scene.

THINGS UNIQUE TO KAUAI:

There are some things that are truly Hawaiian or just special to Kauai.

Hawaiian time is very laid back to say the least.   The roosters on Kauai became very dominant supposedly after a severe storm.  Either way this feral chicken doesn't have a natural predator so they are all over the place.

Neat tropical flowers are always nice to see against the blue skies of Kauai.

This rainbow is particularly unique to Kauai since the island gets a fair amount of rain. That is why it is referred to as "The Garden Isle." Nothing quite like seeing a lovely rainbow against the backdrop of  Mount Wai'ale'ale.

Hiking and finding beach glass kept us busy.   The beach glass, if large enough could be made into jewelry.  The brown, which is from beer bottles is more common than blue or green.  The blue could be from glass Vicks containers.  There aren't as many products in glass, therefore less pretty colors of glass present on this glass covered beach.

Even mini golf was a challenge for us.  We must not be the only ones who had difficulty keeping the balls out of the multiple water holes.  There were nets at almost every hole.

This was a very nice relaxing vacation.  This is mostly due to our son, who now flies for SkyWest. We as his parents receive some very nice flight perks.  We really appreciate being able to travel and experience our world.
